Police are investigating the death of an elderly man at an Auckland board house this evening.
Inspector Willie Taylor said police were called to a Mt Eden boarding house where the dead resident had been discovered.
Taylor said the circumstances of the man's death was undecided and police were examining the scene as a precaution.
The outcome would not be known until a post-mortem was carried out to determine whether he died of natural causes or was a victim of foul play.
"There's nothing to say it's suspicious but we're just taking precautions," said Taylor.
