The bomb squad were called to an address in Auckland this morning after a piece of military ammunition was found under a house.
Police called in a team from the New Zealand Defence Force after a builder found a "small piece of military ordinance" at an address on Beresford St in Bayswater about 8am.
The builder carried what he believed was a bomb to the back of the section and left it there.
Inspector Cornell Kluessien said the "small, bomb looking" piece of ammunition had now been removed.
