A post-mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a 19-year-old found in central Christchurch's Hagley Park.
The body was found by a member of the public at lunchtime yesterday in an open drain near Deans Avenue.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Sweeney says initial enquiries and a forensic examination indicate there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The matter will be referred to the Coroner to decide the cause of death and whether it was accidental.
The body was found in an open, steep-sided drainage canal, which had around 30 centimetres of water in it.
