Trev, the overnight multi-millionaire from Te Kauwhata, has quit his day job at Countdown.

A spokeswoman for Countdown Huntly this morning confirmed Trev, who picked up a $26 million fortune from Lotto Powerball in early April, had not been back since his big win.

He no longer worked at the store and they were not expecting him back "any time soon", she said.

Trev gave permission for his picture to be taken after his Powerball win, but quickly went into hiding after receiving widespread attention.

NZ Lotteries earlier said Trev had been fending off people asking for money, interview requests from media and multiple "emails from ladies".

He was said to be "taking time out for himself".
