Mayor's secret talk shunned

Hamilton city councillors are shunning suggestions from the mayor that they go into a secret huddle to discuss the "appalling" process that led to the termination of the V8 contract.

Mayor Julie Hardaker suggested councillors discuss concerns in a team meeting - with the public excluded - with the chief executive during lunchtime today.

But councillor Angela O'Leary said the only discussion she wanted to have was about setting a date for a formal meeting. Her colleagues Martin Gallagher and Ewan Wilson supported her position.
