Elderly woman dies in Tokoroa fire

An elderly woman has died after a house fire in Tokoroa overnight.

Central Lakes fire assistant area manager Nigel Richards said two fire engines attended the fire which broke out at 4.20am.

He said police were investigating the cause of the fire.

Inspector Barry Smalley said two other people in the house managed to escape the fire.

He said emergency services were still at the scene of the blaze on Tieke Place.
