A tapu-lifting ceremony and blessing has been held at the scene of good Samaritan Austin Hemmings' death in central Auckland.
Mr Hemmings, 44, was fatally stabbed after stepping in to assist a woman who was being assaulted on Mills Lane on September 25. A 45-year-old sickness beneficiary has been charged with his murder.
About 100 people, including friends, colleagues, emergency services staff and this afternoon attended a ceremony to spiritually cleanse the site of Mr Hemmings' death today.
