Fire destroys house and $1m removal trailers

A house being prepared for removal from a Feilding address was destroyed by fire last night, along with the specialised transport trailers worth more than $1 million.

Detective Felicity Mansell, of Feilding police, said the Fire Service was called to the property in Aorangi Rd just before midnight to find the old home and the trailers it was resting on well alight.

Brittons House Movers had jacked the house up on to the trailers and were waiting for the next fine day make the move.

The company said the two trailers were worth more than $1 million.

Police and fire safety experts are conducting a scene examination today.

Ms Mansell said there had been a number of thefts and property damage in the area over recent weeks and police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the fire and may have seen anything suspicious.
