American speedway star Brad Loyet is hoping to benefit from a second piece of Kiwi hospitality ahead of Saturday night's international sprintcar series at Vodafone Springs Speedway in Auckland.
The American professional ran into engine trouble last Saturday night in the first international meeting of the summer and it looked
doubtful that he would be able to take to the track on Tuesday night in Palmerston North. But an act of generosity from Kiwi sprintcar driver Daniel Eggleton ensured Loyet wouldn't be watching from the stands.
"We lost a radiator hose and basically melted the motor down," Loyet said. "We didn't have a spare motor with us or anything. They were kind enough to lend their motor to us for Tuesday night but we are still looking for something to run on Saturday night whether it be a car or someone to give us a motor to run. Hopefully we find something.
"There is one thing that we won't do and that is give up. If we get any sort of car or motor you will get to see a show for sure."
Loyet has been a regular visitor to New Zealand in recent summers and says the experience is something he looks forward to each year, especially with the relationships that he has forged through his visits.
