Police are waiting for a post mortem before they can release any further information about a body found on a Napier beach last night.
Emergency services attended the scene on the beach adjacent to the former Winstone Aggregates site on State Highway 2, Awatoto, Napier, at 8.35pm after a body was found by a member of the public.
A police spokesperson said there would be no more information available until a post mortem had been completed.
"We would hope to do it as soon as possible, we will be doing everything we can to get it done quickly."
Police could not confirm whether there was a link between this and the missing French tourist Pierre-Antoine Paludet who last seen in Haumoana just over a week ago.
