Hamilton City Council has named Cherie Meecham as director of the Waikato Museum.
Cherie is at Rotorua Museum where she has been deputy director for the six years.
Cherie, who joins the museum in mid June, has fostered strong relationships with the tourism industry and the local community and has a strong network of relationships nationally.
She has overseen significant upgrades and exhibitions, including the $23 million redevelopment of the Rotorua Bathhouse building and Rotorua Museum.
Cherie Meecham says she is excited to be joining the museum and further enhancing the important role it plays in telling the stories of the Waikato and providing an exciting place where visitors and the local community can have enjoyable and entertaining experiences.
