No10: Bob Woolmer dies
By some distance the most shocking World Cup story of them all.
Woolmer was the amiable mentor of a Pakistan team who were defined as much for sharp practice as they were for their outrageous talent.
On the day that he died, Woolmer must have looked on in a state of disbelief - or perhaps suspended belief - as his side crashed to a three-wicket loss to Ireland at Sabina Park, a result that sounded the death knell to their 2007 campaign.
