Their little legs might not be up to taking part in the main event but Fordell Preschool students have done their bit for Relay for Life.
The preschool held a "Mini Relay for Life" on Friday, March 9, with 20 children from the preschool and Fordell School taking part in a bikeathon and a walkathon. The event comes ahead of Relay for Life Whanganui 2018 which will be held at Cooks Gardens on March 17.
Preschool committee member Megan Brotherton said a 14-member Fordell Education team will take part in Relay for Life.
"The proper Relay for Life would be too much for little legs so we wanted to find a way to involve the little ones as well," Mrs Brotherton said.
"This is an opportunity for them to do something fun and physical and for parents and grandparents to come along to watch them. The bikeathon was the main thing but the ones who couldn't bring bikes to use on the bike track have been doing a walkathon and we had fruit for them all for afternoon tea."
