Reporter Amelia Wade visited three areas of Auckland where there are a cluster of petrol stations to test the mood of customers.
Wairau Park
BP, 127 Wairau Rd:
Manager Linus Sequeria has not seen a drop-off in patronage. "Sometimes people inquire about the spill and ask how business is going."
Timmy Nator is a loyal BP customer.. "I want to help them get their money back. It could have happened
to anyone because everyone mines for oil."
Mobil, 140 Wairau Rd:
James Julian owns advertising agency Amaculate Image and was once a loyal BP customer, giving them up to $25,000 in business a month.
"It's had a terrible environmental impact and I'm disgusted in how they've responded to the spill." He now has an "anything but BP" policy for his 26 company cars and will never go back.
Mobil, 141 Wairau Rd :
Businessman Rupesh Amar says he had not thought about boycotting BP until recently, but a boycott "would make them realise, if everyone gets together".
Another customer disagrees with a boycott: "There's a million miles between the Gulf of Mexico and the service station. Who are you hurting unless it's done en masse?"
Northcote Rd
Mobil, corner of Northcote and Sunnybrae Rds::
Cashier Naren Nomula has not seen an increase in customers since the oil spill. "No one has even mentioned the oil spill."
Customer Ross Jones says he won't buy from BP. "It's environmental. I disagree with the lack of what they're doing. ".
Rangi Davis is usually a loyal BP customer but now doubts she will go back. "They're destroying the natural ecosystems of the water, the land and the environment. They're greedy."
Shell, 37 Northcote Rd:
The manager has seen an increase in customers.
Customer Karen Hinchcliffe now thinks twice about going to BP. "If I had a choice, I would go somewhere else because of the oil spill."
BP, 50 Northcote Rd:
Cashier Niten Pillay says none of his regulars have said anything about the spill.
Chris Nash says he still goes to BP because it's the most convenient for him. "BP had an accident, and it shouldn't get boycotted for an accident."
Paul thinks the oil rig and services stations are two different things. "They're giving us oil to run our vehicles."

Mobil, 1177 Great North Rd:
Mariam Margison agrees with boycotting BP until it takes responsibility for its impact on the environment.
Shell, 1125 Great North Rd:
Customer Jillian Schweizer says she tries not to go to BP unless she is desperate.
"They say they're trying, but they're not. It's too little, too late."
Rob Cameron is angry about how BP has handled the spill.
BP, 1356 Great North Rd:
Cashier Tony Li has not noticed any decrease in customers.
Customer Katie Smith thinks boycotting BP stations is "extreme", but would "probably avoid BP, unless it was convenient".
