Mount Maunganui will be subject to road closures and stricter alcohol-free zones over the New Year.
Marine Parade along Mount Main Beach will be closed from 8pm to 6am daily until January 5 and Leister Ave, Commons Ave, Grace Ave, and parts of Pacific Ave and Prince Ave will be closed to all but residents.
A one-way system will be established on Saturday afternoon in a clockwise direction from Salisbury Ave along The Mall, Adams Ave and Marine Parade.
The corner of Salisbury Ave and The Mall will be closed from 6.30am to 10.30am, to allow passengers from a large cruise ship to safely disembark. Traffic coming down Salisbury Ave will be diverted into Victoria Rd and Prince Ave to The Mall.
The 24-hour alcohol-free zone in Mount Maunganui expands to include all public areas north of Hull Rd and Tweed St until January 6 at 6am.
In Tauranga, a full road closure will be in place from 6pm Saturday to 8am Sunday on The Strand from Devonport Rd roundabout down to Harington St roundabout.
Road closures will also be in place for events during the first week of January.
For the Port of Tauranga Half Marathon, Salisbury Wharf Car Park (from the entire car parking area), Salisbury Ave (from Victoria Rd to The Mall), and The Mall (from Salisbury Ave to Prince Ave) will be closed from 6am on January 6 until 10pm on January 7.
From 4.30am to 3pm on January 7, The Mall (from Prince Ave to Adams Ave including the Pilot Bay Boat Ramp), Adams Ave(from The Mall to Marine Parade), Marine Parade (from Adams Ave to Oceanbeach Rd), Oceanbeach Rd (from Marine Parade to road end), Yale St (from Oceanbeach Rd to Maranui St), Maranui St (from Yale St to Sandhurst Dr) and Papamoa Beach Rd (from Sandhurst Dr to Parton Rd) will be closed.
