A man who was allegedly threatening people with a high-powered bow has been chased down and arrested, and his dog shot dead after it attacked a police officer.
The man, who was holding the compound bow and arrow, was threatening members of the public at Marks Point, New South Wales, police say.
When officers arrived he ran into a house and moments later a dog ran out, attacking a dog handler and police dog.
The officer fired his gun and the dog died at the scene.
A 23-year-old man was arrested nearby after a short chase.
