One of the New Zealand stars in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be showing off his skills to all interested parishioners of MMA in Wanganui on Thursday.

Fight Fit Gym will host Dylan Andrews (17-5-1) for a two-hour session on both stand up striking and ground fighting.

The 34-year-old Andrews, currently recovering from a shoulder dislocation in his last UFC fight in December, had come back to New Zealand to run another seminar in Auckland, so Fight Fit owner Paul Berridge was able to get him to come to Wanganui through a close friend at Sky Sport.

Born and raised in Wellington and now living on the Gold Coast, "The Villain" Andrews came onto the world stage in 2013 when he was selected for the UFC's Ultimate Fighter reality television programme, earning a UFC contract despite being defeated on the show by eventual runner-up Uriah Hall.

Berridge said the seminar should be well attended by local fighters and those from nearby Taranaki and Manawatu.

"He's got that following all over New Zealand.

"What he had done on the 'Team Jones vs Team Sonnen' Ultimate Fighter, making the semifinals, he won a lot of fans with his personality and the way he was on the show.

"It's definitely a first for Wanganui. People will definitely know who Dylan is."

The seminar will be from 6.30pm-8.30pm.
