Paul Berridge is bringing his first cousin to town to help him out in a fight.

But this is no street brawl, the owner of the Fight Fit gym is hosting one of the country's leading boxers in Robert 'the Butcher' Berridge for two special seminars this month. Born in Wanganui and fighting out of Auckland, Robert Berridge has climbed the ranks of the New Zealand and Australian scenes - amassing 17 wins, one draw, one loss with 12 knock outs.

Paul Berridge said his cousin will teach two classes - the first for those with no background who are interested in the sport or of using boxing to improve their health and fitness. The second session will be for those involved with boxing, kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

"All those guys that want to have a chance and get some knowledge from New Zealand's No 1 light heavyweight," said Paul Berridge.

The former strength and conditioning coach for the Wanganui rugby team opened Fight Fit in March last year. He hopes to make this one of many workshops this year, although his cousin will be busy fighting in major cards in Australia, he said.

The seminars will be on January 26. Costs are $15 for gym members and $30 for non-members.
