A group of Plunket mothers wants to showcase what they make at home and create a public event with a night market at Wanganui's Majestic Square.
Volunteer organiser Jo Ockey said she became aware of the mothers' work through her Plunket Yes2Youth Pepe courses.
"I'm always amazed that here arethese women that have just had a baby and they're working fulltime in a home business," she said.
"I wondered how we could help them even more. They're so talented and hardworking."
Their first night market has been set for Majestic Square from 5pm to 8.30pm on Friday November 30. The group is looking for more stallholders who have products that are different and of good quality.
Crystal Ellicott and her sister Melissa White will be taking one space for the baby-related clothing and toys they make in their Babybitz Boutique business. They usually sell through a Facebook site.
The 20 stalls on the first night will not be limited to mothers - Ms Ockey hopes dads, grandparents and other family members will get involved. One thing that's guaranteed is some good baking.
Stallholders will bring their own tables and pay $10 for the space, which goes into the Plunket coffers.
