Almost a year after being stolen in a daring midnight raid, almost 100 priceless medals are set to return to their spiritual home.
The 96 bravery medals, taken from Waiouru's Army Museum in December last year, will be handed back to the museum in a ceremony next Tuesday.
They include nine Victoria Crosses, two George Crosses, and an Albert Medal.
The medals were recovered in February after a $300,000 reward was offered by British medal collector Lord Ashcroft, and other wealthy benefactors.
They spent several months being extensively forensically examined for DNA and other evidence.
They have been held in secure storage since this was completed.
Tuesday's return will be several hours long and include the families of the medal recipients.
The army, museum staff and local iwi will also be involved.
Police are still working to close the net around those responsible for the theft, but the perpetrators remain on the loose for the time being.
