One of the many stunning photos in the new book about Whanganui

Whanganui in all its glory is to be unveiled in a superb new coffee table book later this year.

The book - From the Sea to the Mountain - offers a wonderful insight into the region's many attractions.

Beautifully designed, it features stunning photos from a range of local photographers who have captured Whanganui's natural charms, its heritage buildings and many activities that go on here.

A number of well-known local writers and journalists have contributed articles, and the book is likely to become a treasured keepsake in many households.

It is being published by Whanganui resident Henry Newrick, a noted businessman, founder of the National Business Review.

The 224-page hard-bound book will be the perfect gift to send overseas to family and friends - and Whanganui-ites living abroad - taking the message of what a special region this is far and wide.

Similar glossy publications usually retail for around $50 or more, but From the Sea to the Mountain will be priced at $24.95.

And we have a great offer for Chronicle readers who can order copies online for only $19.95, using our special promotion code.

Newrick said his aim was to "spread the word and promote the Whanganui region far and wide - to all corners of the earth".

The book had the backing of Whanganui District Council - which has pre-ordered 500 copies - and Whanganui & Partners and the Chamber of Commerce. Five per cent ($1.25) from the price of each pre-ordered copy would be donated to a local charity.

Special offer for Chronicle readers

From the Sea to the Mountain is due to be published in November and go on sale for $24.95.
