Papaiti and Kauarapaoa Rds are open again after a slip closed the two roads about 6km out of Whanganui on Friday morning.

A Whanganui District Council spokesperson said logging operations had ceased while the road was being checked further up.

The council expected the roads to be closed until at least midday on Friday but at 11.30am advised that they had reopened.

However, users are advised to take care, with roads around the district still very wet. The council said there are many small slips on district roads, and conditions could change suddenly.
