Prospective students given grand tour

Wanganui Collegiate School opened its doors during the weekend to welcome prospective students.

Erin Reeve, head of admissions, said 115 children and their families took the opportunity to have a look around the school.

"This open day focused on our day students, so it was mostly local families - although we did have one family come from Auckland for it."

Applications for the day roll - non-boarding students - for 2017 close on March 18.

Ms Reeve said Collegiate holds two open days every year. The second one, in May, is for prospective boarding students, and those students get to have a sleep-over at the school.

She said the students took tours of the school and talked with the headmaster, Chris Moller, as well as two new Year 9 students and the current head boy and head girl. They also had lunch in the dining hall.
