One dead in SH4 crash north of Whanganui

One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 4 between Whanganui and Raetihi.

The highway is closed while emergency services attend, police said in a statement.

Emergency services were alerted just before 8pm.

Police have asked motorists to avoid the area.
