There's little room on Nalini Singh's report card to list all her school successes.
Being named Wanganui High School's (WHS) 2010 dux is top for the 17-year-old who is off to Auckland University (AU) to study commerce and science, armed with a $40,000 AU scholarship.
And there's more.
Three of Nalini's works were selected for publication in the annual New Zealand anthology Re-Draft for the best teen writers from the School for Young Writers (SYW).
She was also placed 1st and 2nd for two poems in the secondary division 2010 NZPS International Poetry competition, and was placed 2nd in the Shakespeare essay competition run by the University of Otago.
At the beginning of January Nalini is heading to Alliance Francais in Paris for a month's study which she won for her 3rd placing in a national French competition.
Nalini is also fluent in French, Spanish and Hindi.
She has received a gold Duke of Edinburgh award, was placed 4th in a national maths competition and 17th nationally in economics.
She found it hard to single out any one teacher at WHS, but Mr Livesay for English, Mr Standley for physics and Mr Ireton for economics were those who had inspired her learning.
Nalini said her dream study, probably at masters level, was complex systems in chaos and order using maths.
No end in sight to Nalini's achievements
