Another month of sporting action means another two sport volunteers have won $500 worth of sports gear and merchandise through the Lotto Volunteers "Thank A Sport Maker" campaign.
The campaign rewards volunteers in our region each month by collecting nominations from the community via electronic "thank you" cards.
Matthew Boult was thanked
for his volunteer work with Cullinane College sports. His nominator praised his commitment to the students: "Matthew has worked tirelessly across Cullinane College as a strong advocate for sport. He assists with fundraising efforts, managing teams and organising working bees and hunting trips to make sport affordable to students. He is a passionate parent with strong loyalties.
"We are grateful to have a man of his generosity amidst our school community."
Laura Kidd, a student at Wanganui High School is one of a number of secondary school students that were thanked for their volunteer efforts at last year's NZ Secondary School Track & Field and Road Race champs at Cooks Gardens. Just from her nomination for working at that event, Laura has won $500 worth of sports gear and apparel as well.
Matthew agreed that the Thank A Sportmaker initiative was a fantastic way to thank volunteers, and both Matthew and Laura have already chosen merchandise to redeem their vouchers. Following a photo session with Sport Whanganui, Laura was heading off to Aramoho Mags and Lotto to collect her new sports gear.
The Thank a Sport Maker campaign recognises and rewards the volunteers who make sport happen throughout the Rangitikei, Ruapehu and Wanganui region.
Volunteers that accept their nomination stay in the running for the 12 months of the campaign. Sport Whanganui congratulates Matthew and Laura and encourages the community to nominate other deserving sport volunteers.
Anyone can nominate, and nominating is easy: just go to the Sport Whanganui website at any time (www.sportwanganui.co.nz) to nominate as many Sport Makers as you like from every area of sport volunteering.
