Sunday's crash involving two cars of teens, allegedly speeding, was described as just more madness between kids who have no idea how to drive.
A storeman where the cars are being held said there were too many wrecked cars in the facility that were the result of stupid teenage
kids who didn't know how to drive.
"These cars are cheap Jap imports, they're too fast, they're turbos, for God's sake, and these kids have no idea how to drive them because they're simply not old enough."
The man, who declined to be named, said it was horrifying how many parents bought the fast, cheap cars for their kids. The storage facility was full of seriously damaged and impounded cars that had been driven around Wanganui by young teens, he said.
He reckoned the badly damaged Toyota Celica from Sunday's crash should be taken to schools to show kids exactly what speed could do.
"They don't know and they don't think about it," he said.
"Actually I think it's time pictures of the crash victims were shown. Let these kids see what really happens - it's not pretty. Let them see pictures of their friends all smashed up - it might get the message home."
Police were still interviewing witnesses about the Sunday morning crash.
Senior Sergeant Dave Kirby said it was too soon to say if or when charges would be laid.
A 15-year-old girl who was in the Toyota Celica remained critically ill after being flown to Auckland Hospital on Monday.
The two vehicles, a white Ford Telstar and a grey Toyota Celica, received substantial damage in two crashes on Liverpool St, between College St and Grey St.
