Whatever your thing is, two new insurance scholarships could start you on your way to living your dream.

Two residents from Rangitikei-Manawatu can apply for the inaugural Greenstone Insurance Scholarships (GIS), Do your Thing, valued at $6000.

Whether it is to pursue academic studies, create art, become a film-maker, perfect your sports technique or protect the environment, the scholarships could help you on your way to realising your dream.

George Bodley of Taihape brokerage Greenstone Insurance, says she is excited the business can financially assist and encourage two people within the Rangitikei-Manawatu region to reach their potential.

The finalists will be judged by a panel of local peers.

"Greenstone Insurance is really looking forward to getting out there and meeting local residents who have the potential and drive to really make a difference in their proposed field.

"It is fantastic that we can help make members of our communities lives better through this scholarship," she said.

Applicants can apply now at doyourthing.co.nz and applications will remain open until August 31, 2012.

George's mother Kath was born and bred in Taihape. Kath and husband Graeme moved back to Taihape from Auckland almost 25 years ago after they had their first child, George, and three years later, twin boys.

"Taihape has a small but special community who we have all been apart of in different ways. It is inspirational to see how loyal our community can be and because of this, giving back to our community [including the wider Manawatu/Rangitikei region] is important to us as individuals and as a business, hence the Greenstone Scholarships."

Graeme has been in the insurance industry for over 15 years now and daughter George joined the team at the end of 2008.

About four years ago the business name was changed to Greenstone Insurance when it became a brokerage.

There are three qualified advisers: Graeme Bodley, George Bodley and Mike Collings, supported by Nicki Gray and Clare Phyn.
