Whanganui community leaders and businesspeople are daring to take a walk in the shoes of a volunteer.
In recognition of International Volunteer Managers Day which was on November 5, Volunteer Whanganui manager Sandra Rickey has dared five people to spend a few hours this week doing voluntary work.
"The whole
point of this 'I Dare You' initiative was to get high profile business leaders and managers to walk in the shoes of a volunteer for half a day," Ms Rickey said.
First up was Mayor Hamish McDouall who spent Monday morning based in Volunteer Whanganui's office writing letters for the 'Who Wants Mail?' service.
"I started 'Who Wants Mail?' because we wanted to reach out to people who are isolated," Ms Rickey said.
