It's music designed to help you leave your troubles behind and it's coming back to Whanganui.
Sam Manzanza and the Afrobeat Band are in town next month to play the Whanganui Musicians' Club.
The Wellington-based musician will be performing on May 6 and is promising to entertain.
"It's music forpeople to dance to and enjoy," Manzanza said. "It's happy music. When people come to my concerts, they come to feel good. They forget their worries."
Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the guitarist, percussionist and singer has been living in New Zealand for 29 years but has toured the world with his music.
He writes his own stuff and, while it is influenced by his time in New Zealand, it is based on traditional tribal sounds from west Africa with an electronic element.
Sam Manzanza will be playing at the Whanganui Musicians' Club, Savage Club Hall, Drews Ave on May 6. Doors open at 7pm. Entry is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
Meanwhile, the musicians' club is holding its AGM this Sunday from 5.30pm at the hall. All welcome.
