Grab a book this summer and win prizes with Wanganui Library's summer reading programme.
Librarian Kelly Scarrow said the summer reading programme ran for the first time last summer, and was so successful that the library has decided to run it for a second year.
"The uptake was fantastic, andpeople got excited about reading again," Mrs Scarrow said.
She said the programme is for adults - although the library is also running a similar scheme for children - and encourages people to start reading again.
"I find people have lost the art of reading and this helps them to get back to that."
You can register for the programme at any branch of the library. From then on, every time you submit a brief book review - on a form provided by the library - you go in the draw to win weekly prizes including book vouchers, movie tickets, library coffees and others.
"It's not about the quantity of books you read, it's just about participation. And you don't have to write a long review - just a few sentences is fine," Mrs Scarrow said.
And for those who are stuck on what to read this summer, Mrs Scarrow has put together a top 100 list of books which is available at every library branch. You must be at least 18 years old to register. It will run until January 31, 2016.
