For the past 40 years Graeme and Dorothy Bardell have enjoyed the best of both worlds on their 20ha farmlet at Okoia in Wanganui.
The property was just a stone's throw from the family business Carmen Motors in nearby Wanganui East, which Graeme operated with bother Paul, but also just
minutes from Wanganui central across the majestic Whanganui River.
The farmlet at 605 No3 Line, Okoia, was Graeme and Dorothy's home for 40 years where they ran sheep and cattle for the larder and the stock sales to provide added income. It is made up of half hills and half flats on the town side of Okoia School and boasts a five bedroom home with two bathrooms, two toilets and a three bay garage.
The farm facilities include a single stand woolshed, implement shed, workshop, slaughter house, cattle race, cattle yards, loading bay, head bale and a hay shed. There is no need to go cap in hand to a neighbour to borrow this or that - it's a farmlet ready to go immediately.
Okoia is well known for its tight knit community with some of Wanganui's best known farming families growing up in the area.
