Wanganui man Antony de Malmanche collapsed in a Bali court on Thursday during his trial on drug charges.

The Wanganui 52-year-old was stabilised and taken to a military and civilian hospital before being returned to prison, his New Zealand lawyer Craig Tuck said.

Mr Tuck said de Malmanche had suffered an angina attack.

De Malmanche was arrested in December at Bali's Denpasar International Airport and subsequently charged with carrying 1.7kg of methamphetamine in his backpack.

The court heard from police officers during Thursday's court session with the prosecution case expected to take a few more weeks.
