My Damned Kind has been in the studio going hard out recording the third instalment of their yet-to-be named album, and the follow up to their second release, Time Out, which has been doing extremely well on iTunes and all other good digital download stores.
While the second album is of a more commercial nature, the third album will be more of a back to the core sound of the first release, Beyond Lies, with big drums, guitars and edgy vocals with a few surprises in-between. My Damned Kind is also privileged to be working in conjunction with Brett Caldas-Lima of Tower Studios in the south of France, who has worked with many high-profile bands including Megadeth on their United Abominations album.
Matt Lorigan, My Damned Kind frontman, says they are stoked to have a person like Brett working on this as the band members are all big Megadeth fans and love their sound, so having Tower Studios involved was an easy choice. The mixing will still be in-house by Nigel Mauchline, with whom they have worked from the beginning, but the drum editing, which has already been completed, and guitar re-amping and possibly final mastering will be done by Brett at Tower studios.
"We would still love to get more air play so we are asking Wanganui to get on the cell phones to all radio stations and request The Way Home from our second album Time Out," Matt says. "We have had the video on C4 and Juice TV as well, so hey, send them a request as well as we would love to see it there again. you can also see them on our site mydamnedkind.com, Facebook and YouTube, etc."
To help the Riverside Bar celebrate its first birthday this Saturday, My Damned Kind is hitting the stage, performing their entire first and second albums along with a few tracks off the upcoming, and unreleased, third album.
"To top the night off we have a great all-girl support band, Luminosity, kicking the night off, so it promises to be a ripper of a show. Make sure you get down early and check out all the action. Bands start at 9pm sharp so don't be late," says Matt. The band would also like to say a big thank you to Brian FM which has already playlisted The Way Home and is also now playlisting Away from the first album. The station's support is much appreciated. "If you haven't yet, get on to 91.2fm and check them out - you will love it," says Matt.
Back to roots for third album
