Part of the 'The BIG Flood June 2015' The Chronicle catches up with people a year on from the June 2015 flood. By Bevan Conley and Zaryd Wilson

On Saturday, June 20, 2015, one month's rain fell on Whanganui in 24 hours.

That night and early Sunday morning the surging Whanganui River brought the district's worst flooding on record, resulting in a state of emergency, huge distress and expense, and a long road to recovery.

The Chronicle is marking the first anniversary of this event with a series of stories and video, going back to those who suffered in the flood and finding out how their lives have changed one year on.

Our series starts on Monday, June 13, and continues all week, and on Monday, June 20, we will be publishing a special anniversary supplement with that day's newspaper.

On the weekend of June 18-19, we will also be posting a special video which shows the devastation and features many of those who were caught up in those momentous events.
