Over 50 young rowers and their coaches from Melbourne received a uniquely New Zealand welcome this afternoon as the Caulfield Grammar party received a pōwhiri onto the Putiki Marae.
Former Whanganui rower Craig Smith has brought out 40 students and seven support staff for a training camp on the Whanganui River.
Having arrived on Thursday and leaving on Monday, they will stay at the Top 10 Holiday Camp while using the boats and facilities at the Aramoho Whanganui Rowing Club.
The students will also have a mayoral reception with Hamish McDouall on Monday.
Caulfield Grammar is an independent, co-educational, Anglican school in Melbourne, with a proud history in sport including rowing.
