There were record entries for boats and anglers in the 14th annual Wanganui Easter Boat Fishing Contest.
Men and women from all over New Zealand, and even one from Sweden, enjoyed what was a competitive, but also very social contest.
Things were looking good for a full fish category leaderboard following day one on Saturday April 30, but poor weather forecast for Sunday meant the cancellation of day two.
However, 53 fish category prizes were awarded as well as various spot prizes, meaning a large chunk of the entrants went away with something to show friends and family.
The biggest surprise of the contest came when Whanganui five-year-old Marcus Rillstone won the major spot prize, a $2500 Yamaha outboard motor from Tasman Marine Ltd.
The big win went down well with all in attendance, who made some good memories and shared many laughs together.
The Wanganui Easter Boat Fishing Contest Committee thanked all entrants, volunteers and sponsors for another great event.
