Whanganui District Council has confirmed it will fund the addition of poppies to some street signs with world war-related names.
Eight streets have been flagged to get the remembrance project rolling but the council is yet to confirm that number and how many of the poppy signs will be puton each street.
The Poppy Places Trust has been pushing for poppies to be added to relevant streets around the country and the Wanganui RSA has been liaising with the council about which Whanganui streets would fit the project.
Last week theChronicle reported the project had stalled after being initiated 18 months ago but the council has since said it is hoped the signs will be installed by Anzac Day.
Property general manager Leighton Toy said the council is "fully supportive" of the project.
The eight streets initially identified to get a poppy are Falkland St, Anzac Pde, Dustin St, Gunn St, Somme Pde, Cavell Pl, Kitchener St and Victory Pl.
"We'll do these eight then we'll look at any additional streets. We think we've got most of them with the eight," Wanganui RSA secretary-manager Kyle Dalton said.
"There may be streets that we perhaps aren't aware of that have got military connections."
