The man charged after a 21-year-old Whanganui man was hospitalised with multiple cuts has pleaded not guilty.
Roy Renata Prince, 25, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted the man with a weapon on Sunday, January 14 at Whanganui's Wembley Park.
Prince appeared in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday when he pleaded not guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm by stabbing and was granted bail.
Judge Chris Sygrove remanded the matter for a case review hearing on March 27 and a jury trial was elected.
Senior Sergeant Shayne Wainhouse, of Whanganui Police, said the victim received multiple cuts when he was assaulted with a weapon about 2am on the Sunday.
