The Hits Radio will have a new voice from Monday afternoon when Jesse Archer takes up the noon to 3pm time slot.
Archer will be replacing Darryl Mallet as host across the Manawatu as Mallet leaves his 15 year radio career to start a new business.
"Jesse has a lot of experience," says Mallet.
"He has recently worked as a producer at Radio Live and he worked at 1XX in Whakatane.
"More recently he has worked in Te Puke and he is coming here from Tauranga."
The Hits manager, Todd Campbell said Archer should be settled in Palmerston North by early October.
"Unlike Darryl who lived in Whanganui and travelled to Palmy, he will be based in Palmerston North which is a new and exciting development for the team there," he said.
"We will get Jesse on air this Monday doing afternoons and he'll be tracking that from the Tauranga studio."
Mallet, who started his radio career at just 14, will host his last show on Friday, September 29.
"It's nice to finish back where I started," he says.
"My first job at the old River City FM was to go in and paint the studio.
Mallet said it has been great to feel like he has been able to give back to the community that gave him his start.
