Whanganui can expect an "average" autumn after an average February, according to the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa).
Niwa climate research scientist John-Mark Woolley said Whanganui had had a damp February, with 96.4 millimetres of rain. That's 125 per cent of the February average.
Mr Woolley said the mean daily, mean maximum and mean minimum temperatures were all slightly above average at 18.6C, 23C and 14.3C respectively.
Mr Woolley said the highest temperature during February 2017 was 26.8C, on February 20, and the lowest temperature during February 2017 was 9.2°C, on February 10.
"No records appear to be broken in Whanganui during February; however on February 13, Whanganui Airport recorded its fourth-highest February extreme wind gust (89 km/h), with records extending back to 1977," he said.
