A Whanganui group has raised at least $6000 in the lead up to the Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
The Hot Pink Flamingos recently held a garage sale with entertainment and a sausage sizzle to fundraise.
"We're going absolutely phenomenal," said Liza Mancer, who started the group with the supportof her loved ones.
The garage sale went "really, really well", and members of the 40-strong group have been fundraising in other ways, including selling cupcakes at work.
Mrs Mancer said the name Hot Pink Flamingos was chosen for the bird's background.
Mrs Mancer said the people in their group were "so enthusiastic".
"It's a great bunch of people."
They even had two children, 3 and 5, in the team.
