Whanganui will have a wealth of classic and vintage cars around this weekend.
Today at 4.30pm the Classic Cluster Cruise heads out as part of Vintage Weekend. There are two routes, a short route around city streets and a longer trip out around Kai Iwi which is all on sealed roads.
About 200 vehicles ranging from hot rods to vintage cars to classic motorbikes are expected to take part in the convoys.
The Whanganui Vintage Rally tomorrow also has alternative short and long runs for car enthusiasts.
Open to vintage, class and muscle cars, hot rods, motorbikes and any other special interest vehicle, the two routes cover about 50 miles (80km) on the short version and 83 miles (133km) for the extended version. Those runs start at Pakaitore/Moutua Gardens at 9am with the cars returning to the same spot by about 12.30pm. Being a rally, those routes are a secret till the day. Any queries should go to Wanganui Vintage Car Club organiser Peter Hardy (021 272 3444).
