Clive Manley has been named as the new chief executive officer of Ruapehu District Council.
Ruapehu Mayor Don Cameron said Mr Manley was chosen from a field of more than 50 candidates and has 25 years' leadership experience in private, central and local government organisations, including a similar role for the Far North District Council.
"He brings extensive skills in strategic, financial, regulatory and operational management to the role, together with strong experience in leading regional social development and lifting performance," Mr Cameron said.
Mr Manley gained a degree in civil engineering from Strathclyde University in Scotland and began his career as an engineer, before entering the local government sector with the then Auckland City Council.
He led Far North District Council from 1999-2008, and from 2009-2010 was responsible for regional social development as Northland Regional Commissioner for the Ministry of Social Development.
