The national spotlight is never far from Wanganui.
Sure, this week it was just a few spots on the morning TV news show, but the value of that exposure shouldn't be underestimated.
The weather gods were smiling on us too, as they provided a timely break between the full-on downpours of Wednesday night and later on Thursday.
The affable Tamati Coffey, who went from being What Now's roving reporter to a similar role as Breakfast's roving weatherman, delivered his morning reports from the bank of our river, with plenty of locals on hand demonstrating this city's green credentials.
Green wasn't the only hue in evidence. There certainly are some colourful characters in Wanganui, and their 15 seconds of fame helped boost the city's image as a vibrant place.
Coffey may not be your cup of tea, but he's certainly popular with a good few locals. Winning Dancing With The Stars last week can't have hurt, either.
As noted by the district council's Greg Lincoln in the Chronicle yesterday, it was all great publicity for our city.
"The best thing for Wanganui [was] the magical early morning shots of the city and river broadcast back to the Breakfast show," he told the Chronicle.
We know we've got a beautiful city, now several thousand more New Zealanders do too.
