Two separate Waipā District Council projects resulted in temporary bridge closures in Te Awamutu over the past week.

On Monday workers closed Arawata St bridge and had traffic management in place as they installed and connected a new water pipe beneath the bridge.

The work is part of the council's routine district-wide watermain renewals programme.

Overnight last Thursday, the Ōhaupō Rd bridge was closed as Bridge It NZ installed a new footbridge beside the road bridge.

The footpath will be extended to meet the footbridge, providing a safer walking and cycling route on the busy road.
