"We rely on the support of dedicated volunteers to make this appeal a success," says Cancer Society spokesperson Rachael Mounsey.
"The help of volunteers means the maximum amount of funding is directed back to the people who need it.
"Giving your time and skills as a volunteer is a great way to support the Cancer Society.
"We hope the people of Hamilton will see our plea and want to get involved."
The Cancer Society receives no direct government funding so relies on the support and generosity of local communities to operate.
"Last year Daffodil Day raised over $650,000 in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Division, which was spent in the region on providing supportive care for cancer patients, their carers, whanau and friends, funding cancer research and providing the public with information on the ways to reduce the risk of cancer through living a smoke free, sun smart, healthy lifestyle."
