In the first professional basketball championship between New Zealand and China, three time NBL champions, the SKYCITY Breakers are set to clash with China's Dongguan Leopards, in the Champions Challenge at Claudelands Arena on Tuesday, October 1.
And Hamilton News has a double guest list pass to give away. Put your name and daytime contact details on the back of an envelope and post it to Breakers at PO Box 1547, Hamilton, to arrive by Friday, September 27.
The Dongguan Leopards are from the Southern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Coached by Australia's most successful coach with a career spanning over 20 years, Brian Goorjian previously coached the Sydney Kings - the only other team besides the Breakers to win three consecutive NBL titles!
The Leopards roster features five players over 6 foot 10in (208.28 cm compared to only one NZ player!) and several Chinese national team members plus two US import players including guard Bobby Brown, who has more than 120 games in the NBA with clubs such as the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Hornets.
Hamilton City's event facilities director of business development and marketing Murray Jeffrey says Hamilton is excited to have the Breakers back for a third year in a row.
