Police have been called to a property on the northeast coast of the Coromandel Peninsula on Christmas Day after reports of threatening behaviour.

The Police Eagle helicopter was dispatched as part of the response.

In a statement this afternoon, police said they were called to a Kennedy Bay property “where someone has made a threat regarding a person known to them at the same address”.

There wasn’t believed to be “a risk to the wider community” or any reports of any injuries.

“Police continue to liaise with parties at the property, working to keep everyone safe.”

In an update this evening, police said the situation had now been resolved.

“One person was taken into custody without incident,” a spokesperson said.

Earlier in the day, social media users in the Coromandel region reported seeing multiple police travelling along Thames Coast Rd, near Te Puru.
