The game between the two high school teams while highly anticipated ended up being quite one-sided with St Peters Cambridge Open A dominating for three-quarters of the match over Waikato Diocesan Open A.
St Peters made a great start to the game, breaking the first centre pass and they created good space.
In contrast, Diocesan were flat and slow to start and overall their performance was patchy.
In the final quarter there was only two goals the difference but it was all a little too late from the Diocesan team.
At halftime St Peters led by 32 goals to 18 and the fulltime score was 63 goals to 32.
St Peters were very happy with their first win. For St Peters, Kataraina Ormsby at wing defence in the second half threw some outstanding passes into the shooters and Waiata Jennings at goal defence and goal keep dominated the defensive end.
The defensive effort in the third quarter was effective, restricting the Diocesan team to just three goals.
For Diocesan, Chelsea Whitaker coming onto goal attack moved and positioned well.
Marist Verdettes Old Girls had a strong start this week and they led Nottingham Castle Rangers by 23 goals to 8 at the end of the first quarter.
The remaining quarters were more competitive but the damage had been done.
The halftime score was 41 goals to 20 and the fulltime score was 72 goals to 44.
This was a nice game to watch for the most part. For Old Girls they only had the seven players so this meant no changes and this helped with achieving some good flows.
Rachel Beale at goal keep collected multiple intercepts and Conal Grant was solid at wing defence.
The attacking combinations of Tennille McDonald at centre and Niki Crombie at wing attack worked well and just get better each week.
For Rangers they initially struggled to retain possession on attack but did settle.
Overall there was great defence from Emma Lee Rowe at goal defence and she gained some great turnover ball.
Tayla Crawford at goal shoot had an outstanding game, taking some high balls and shooting with accuracy despite some tight defence from Beale.
Uni Premier were again relentless in their game against FTNC Premier Reserve.
Uni were particularly strong in the first half, achieving a halftime score of 47 goals to 11.
There were some fast straight lines of attacking play and strong cohesive defence from the whole team.
The closest quarter was the third one with FTNC Premier Reserve only losing this by five goals showing that when they concentrated their efforts it did result in goals.
The final score was 85 goals to 31. For Uni they used a number of combinations that were all strong, so hard to pick out players but mid courters Laura Langman and Natalie Mourits were particularly effective playing in a variety of positions.
For FTNC Premier Reserve the player of the day for the team was Paula Bent at wing defence who made some strong fast drives through court.
